In an interview with Nikkei BP translated by IGN, Konami president Fumiaki Tanaka said that Metal Gear Solid 4 is the game that will give the PS3 a growth injection in Japan. MGS has never been a huge success in Japan, but it has traditionally sold over 750k copies there (not much compared to the multiplatinum status it enjoys in the other two territories but still a fair success nonetheless). The company aims to sell 1 million copies of MGS4 in Japan.
